WEDDINGS
My mother always said I was a romantic at heart, and I suppose that's true. I love weddings and slick suits and brides in white dresses and other romantical things that give people the honey glows.
So whether you're getting married in Maui or abroad or in my backyard—sure, I'll even fire up the barbecue for you!—I want to be there to capture it all.
I tried my hand at photography when I applied for a job at a local newspaper in 2005. I overhead that I could increase my chances of being hired if I could also take pictures. So I bought a camera and brought it to my interview.
"Can you take pictures?" the editor asked me.
"Me? Oh, yeah. Um-hmm. Sure. No problem."
I then made it my effort to learn as much as I could about photography, and within a couple of years I was the lead staff photographer.
The first wedding I ever shot was for a coworker, and things took off from there.
My ancestors hail from the highlands of Scotland. They were supporters of freedom fighters William Wallace and Robert Bruce. Former U.S. President Ulysses S. Grant is in my long line of great uncles. I'm proud of my Scottish roots.
One of my favorite Scottish Gaelic words is "turadh," (pronounced "tour-ah") which means "a break in the clouds from the rain."
Wedding days can be stressful. There's lots of last minute decisions to make, details to sort out, running around, rushing, maybe even panic. I aim to be your break in the storm. I'm laid back, easy-going, and fun to be around.
And I promise to leave my broadsword at home.*
* If there's a chance of a rival clan invasion I can come prepared for battle. Totally your call.
I met Danielle while photographing her sister's wedding back in 2011. I wanted to ask her out at the reception, but being the consummate professional that I am—not to mention a bit of a chicken—I decided to wait, despite having several golden opportunities.
When I did work up the nerve to ask her out a few weeks later she agreed, and not just to one date, but many! One year later we were married.
Danielle is a health and fitness coach with Beachbody.com.
You can usually find us gallivanting around Maui, Hawai'i where we live with our two boys. I'll be the pasty-skinned Scottish guy getting sunburned at the beach.

I'm shooting it for your children, for the generations to come, and for the lifetime that you and your spouse are going to enjoy together. I believe these images are going to walk through your life with you.
Wedding photography is no small investment, and I don't treat it as such. It's an investment of resources, time, collaboration, artistry, fun, care, and love. Let's face it, in the end, the cake gets eaten; the dress goes into storage; the limo drives away; and the guests go home, but your wedding photos are going to last just like those two precious words, "I do."
Some of the best advice I can give to people is not to undervalue their wedding photos—and that's whether they hire me or not. Whoever photographs your wedding make sure they are going to value the experience of your day for the lifetime investment that it is.
The more I can get to know you, the better I can cater my artistic skillset to deliver a final product you're going to love. So tell me how you met your significant other, what music gets you in the lovin' mood, and what movies make you cry.
I have years of experience as a wedding photographer, so pick my brain. Even if you don't hire me, I'm here to help you navigate this whole process, which I understand can feel kind of overwhelming at times.
So send me a message and let's schedule a chat!

I want to talk about my totally awesome wedding albums! (Seriously, they're gorgeous!) But first...
Sometimes brides don't always know what they want, or how the magic of beautiful wedding photography is created. Please consider me available to help answer any questions you might have.
Traditionally, I meet up with the bride and her entourage early in the day. Whenever they're starting with hair and makeup, or maybe even before then if they're having a special catered breakfast.
Next I'll meet up with the gentlemen and get some shots of them hanging out and getting ready.
We'll take care of as many formal pictures of the groomsmen and the bridesmaids as possible before the wedding ceremony.
Let's do a First Look! Then it's onto the ceremony, family pictures, and the PARRR-TAY!

My wife and I made a parody rap video in 2013 that landed us on national TV! We got an all-expenses paid trip to New York City and a spot on Katie Couric's daytime talk show where we won $594. The video at right is a short excerpt of our appearance on Katie's show.
