The first time Vanessa was in front of my camera was her brother Jason’s wedding in 2009. She wasn’t even a teenager then, but she had her brother’s charm, a charm that seems to run in her whole family—her brother is the nicest guy in the world (no, really); her older sister Fawn is the most delightful person you’ll ever meet; and their baby sister Tanya has an infectious cuteness that could probably cure the world of all its evils if it could be bottled up and distributed.
From what I know of her family I can see bits of each of them in Vanessa. It’s been fun watching her mature into a fun, laid back, classy young lady, with her love for horses and wide open country. She’s another one of those small-town Vermont girls who looks like she should be on the cover of Country Weekly rubbing shoulders with Leann Rimes and Garth Brooks.
In 2015 she volunteered to help me out with an equestrian bridal shoot. In between trying not to scare her horse with my flash unit we captured some beautiful portraits of her in the midst of Vermont’s majestic green landscape.
A year later I was able to return the favor and photograph her senior portraits.
I love working with Vanessa! Her easy-going nature and unassuming personality means doing pictures with her never feels like work. It just feels like hanging out and having fun.
Congratulations on finishing school, Vanessa! God bless you as you gallop forward into life’s next adventure!
